Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara (Dist. Kapurthala) was established in 1965 and managed by the Kamla Nehru College Committee.
The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade ( CGPA Score 3.55 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 21st February 2014.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The aim of the college was pressing need to create a better social set up by educating the comparatively deprived gender.
It was a woman self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Kapurthala played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
This college has conferred as the status as "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" & 'Star College in Life Sciences’ by DBT, Govt of India as the best college by their Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Management, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, and Add-On Certificate courses.
