KLE Technological University (KLE Tech) has its roots in one of the premier engineering institutions of Karnataka, B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVB), a prestigious engineering college in Hubballi. The founding organization KLE Society, Belgaum, established BVB College in 1947 to create an institution that would lay the foundation of modern engineering education in the northern region of Karnataka. Over time, it gained tremendous credibility with the industries and employers and emerged as a brand to reckon with. The Alumni of the Institute have done exceedingly well in all spheres of life at both national and international levels and brought name and fame to themselves and their alma mater.
To maintain and enhance its relevance in meeting global economies’ ever-changing demands, the BVB college, under the leadership of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, undertook a strategic initiative to transform itself into a University of National Distinction. The rich heritage of BVB College as one of the best engineering colleges in India, combined with the brand equity of the KLE Society, are the starting points for KLE Technological University to hold a unique position of pride in the technical education system of India.
University has been ranked among the top 200 institutions in the NIRF -2022 rankings (National Institutional Ranking Framework) by the MHRD Govt of India.
It has also been ranked among India’s top 25 private Universities under the ATAL -2020 ranking of institutions by AICTE and MHRD. The MIT report (2018-March) on ‘The global state-of-the-art in engineering education identifies BVB (KLE Tech) as one of five Global institutions that are places to watch in Undergraduate Engineering Education.
The University has following three campuses located in Hubballi, Belgaum, and Bangalore, with 8000 undergraduate and 700 postgraduate students.

Though the current programs of the University are focused on Engineering, Management, and Law, it aspires to emerge as a multidisciplinary research University by 2030.

KLE Technological University is playing a significant role in driving the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem in the last decade. It has supported a large number of technology startups to succeed in the competitive global environment, creating high-profile jobs in the region. “KLE – Centre for Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (KLE – CTIE)”, which is a University nodal center for the promotion of entrepreneurship, is recognized as a ‘Technology Business Incubator (TBI)’ by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. KLE Tech’s entrepreneurship promotion model is considered as the most successful model for growing entrepreneurship on campuses in tier-II cities.
We have incubated 82 startups on the campus, of which two companies have reached above 200 crore valuations. We have also created more than 1800 jobs in the region.
