Kharagpur Tribal Primary Teachers Training Institute (KTPTTI), Kharagpur was established in 2003.

To elevate the standards of education in the tribal community of the area, by providing Bachelor course in Education programme.

It is a co-education, self financed Institution. The institute is run by Kangsabati Development Employment & Service Trust. Kharagpur Tribal PTTI is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The Institute comes under the Vidyasagar University. The institute is associated with qualified and dedicated teachers to groom its students. The Institute is well equipped with all modern facilities. 

The Kangsabati Development Employment & Service Trust is formed in order to gear up the trodden but battered people (specially of Tribal) of Midnapore District.

To fetch all round development of the said people figured 26 dec. (twenty Lac.) among which 10 dec people are Tribal, a macroscopic attempt has been launched in order to enforce education among the people. The Tribal Educational Complex is established where Mr. P. R. Kyndhia, The Central Minister-in-charge of development of North East Region and Tribal Welfare has taken initiative and has opened the process by physical appearance.

With the tireless and continuous effort of Govt. of West Bengal for more than the last 2 decades the domain of primary education has been extended considerably. The establishment of various primary schools and child-education centers at reasonable distances in towns and villages has helped to have primary education by the children of all walks of life. In comparison to the vast requirement though there is a demand for more primary schools, the advancement of education at this juncture is comparatively hopeful and encouraging. Not being content with the number of schools it is equally very urgently necessary to enhance the quality of education in these primary schools by introducing science & technology based curriculums.

With the development if trained teachers only we may mitigate this acute problem. Devoted to extend modern and progressive education the introduction of this institution has taken place with the determination to develop trained teachers.

The Institution situated at Mouza Hazichak, J. L. No. – 204, Khatian No. – 156 covering an area of 1 acre, 50 decimal of land at village Matkatpur, P.O. – Matkatpur, Dt. Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal.
