Khalsa College, Garhdiwala (Dist. Hoshiarpur) was established in 1966 as a result of the efforts of respectable Mahant Sewa Dass and Dr. M.S. Randhawa but later managed by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.07 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 29th March 2016.

The aim of the college was uplifting and advancing the students of the area in their lives and occupying the higher positions in the society after completing their studies in this institution.

It was a co-educational self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Hoshiarpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

At the time of establishment, the area of Hoshiarpur particularly Garhdiwala was known for its backwardness in economy and education due to less fertile land, area at the foothills of Shivalik known as Kandi area and lack of water resources for irrigation.

The people were not in the position to send their children especially the girls outside for getting the higher education. So with the purpose of empowerment of these rural and agrarian population especially weaker sections of the society and the girl students of Scheduled cast & backward classes, the institution was established.

Since its inception, this institution is serving its purpose in an efficient manner though it had to face odd situations many years due to the dispute with local management.

As a result, this institution was given to the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar in March 1996 by the local committee.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Management, Science, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts and Science streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh. It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, and Add-On Certificate courses.
