Kastubagram Rural Institute, Indore was established on 25th July 1963 and managed by Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust (R).
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 7th July 1970 & 12(B) on 17th June 1972 under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.46 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th May 2014.
The aim of the college was to provide more feature along with modern conventional higher education in Arts, Social Science and Home Science is an extension education which links education to the society and sensitizes them towards their social duties.
It is a womans private Institute provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Indore played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college was established by Mahatma Gandhi in the memory of Kasturba Gandhi. The college got the status of an Autonomous College by UGC on 9th December 1987.
It was established by the National Council for Rural Higher Education, Government of India, New Delhi in co-operation with Madhya Pradesh Government and Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, established by Mahatma Gandhi in the memory of Kasturba Gandhi.
The University Education Committee headed by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan proposed to the Government of India the establishment of 14 Rural Institutes all over the country from 1956 to 1963.
In this spirit a Special Rural Institute for women was established under the patronage of Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust at Kasturbagram, Indore with the joint efforts of Central and Madhya Pradesh State Government on 25 July 1963 for the development and empowerment of rural women through higher education.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Science streams with various specializations and offers two years of a postgraduate course in Arts and Science with various specializations under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. It also offers Ph.D. and Certificate courses.
University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and a fair method of admission.
