Karuna Institute of Medical Sciences, Palakkad was established in 2006.

KIMS is a self-financing Institution under Safe Development Alms Trust (Regd).

The Safe Development Alms Trust was registered under Public Trust Act XIV/1920 in the Year 1993 with their Head Quarters at Melamuri, Palakkad with the objective of providing General Health Care Service to the Public and to plan and execute activities designed to promote Medical and Para Medical Education.

Karuna Medical College is an independent institution in the same campus of Karuna Medical College Hospital to admit 100 students every year. The Medical College will have the fullest Complement of staff including Dean/Principal as per the Regulation of the Medical Council of India. A team of socially committed personalities in and out of the country clubbed together and registered The Safe Development Alms Trust.

The Trust is an autonomous non governmental organization and Medical Education is one of the main objectives of the Trust.

The socio-economic development of the society was aimed through healthcare and medical education.

The Trust established Karuna Hospital Melamuri, Palakkad with a humble beginning during the Year of 1994 and this Hospital is the parent institution of the present Karuna Medical College.

The devoted leadership of the Trust managed the Karuna Hospital with all clinical and diagnostic departments.
