Karimganj College, Karimganj was established in 1946. It is one of the pioneering colleges of Assam, imparting education in Science, Arts & Commerce.

The college is affiliated to Assam University, Silchar and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is reaccredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade with CGPA 2.78 in 4.0 point scale in the year 2010.

The college was originally affiliated to the Calcutta University, Kolkata then to the Gauhati University, Guwahati and in 1994, when the Assam University, Silchar was established, it became affiliated to the latter. Today, it is one of the leading colleges under Assam University, Silchar imparting education in all three faculties - Arts, Science and Commerce.

It is situated on the bank of Kushiara River demarcating Indo-Bangladesh border, the college is playing a significant role for last six decades in the field of Higher Education of the region. Today, it is one of the leading colleges under Assam University, Silchar.

It is a great pleasure to mention that the college has been selected as one of the two IT-institutes of Assam under NEC programme and accordingly, the college is offering two degree programmes viz. B.Sc. (Computer Science) and BCA affiliated to Assam University, Silchar from the academic Session 2005-06.

The college has also introduced B.Sc. Honours Programme in Biotechnology from the session 2006-07. The college welcomes the new generation of students who enter this institution with hearts vibrating with hopes and aspirations. The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce stream under Assam University, Silchar.
