Kanpur Anchalia Mahavidyalaya, Kanpur, (Dist. Cuttack) was a non-government aided degree college was established on 1st November 1978  by the humble contributions of the people of the locality.

The day to day management of the college is under the guidance of Higher Education Department (DHE), Govt. of Odisha. The college has a governing body. Now there is no full phased governing body but the college has been managed by the President and the secretary of the Governing body.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in 1991 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.14 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 3rd March 2015.

The college pursues its objective of providing quality education in the field of Arts, to ensure the development of human resources both personality-wise and career-wise also aims to create such an environment that can make the students a good citizen in life and professional in career.

The college was started by +2 Junior college with Arts streams but the infant institution has gradually grown and metamorphosed to a degree College in 1986.

The college which is affiliated with Utkal University and recognized by the state government of Odisha is the first-degree college of Narasinghpur Block.

It is a co-educational private Institute, providing a regular course which is located in a rural part of a Cuttack played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts and Science streams with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts and Science stream with various specializations under Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar. Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.
