About Kamargaon College
Kamargaon College, Golaghat was established in 1972, whic falls under tribal sub-plan of Golaghat Disrtict. It is situated at Kamargaon under Bokakhat Sub-Division of Golaghat District of Assam at a distance of 400 mtrs. towards North from NH. 37.
The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.
It is one of the distinct institute of higher learning of Kamaragaon which covers an area of 35 villages having around 75,000 populations. Kamargaon College had been a great need of the people of the locality since years back for imparting higher education to the young aspirants who couldn’t go outside for education owing to their poor economic background.
In 1971, some enlightened persons cameforward to establish a college at Kamargaon considering the need of the community. People of the locality joined hands with them and Kamargaon College came into existence in July, 1972. Since then the college has been serving for the noble cause of re-shaping and transforming this socio economically disadvantaged society through quality education.
The college endeavors to promote in the students and teachers an awareness and understanding of the social needs of the locality and prepare them for fulfilling such needs.
The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.
The college also has a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.

- The college has an attractive campus situated in secured and serene atmosphere suitable for learning with Young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff
- The college has well-equipped with all modern facilites like classrooms, library, laboratories, computer centre, canteen & hostel etc.
- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed.
- Internet facilities can be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs.
- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to assure the quality of the college.
- State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
The college has a provision of giving award to the students who:
- Secure more than 75% marks in aggregate in H.S. Exam.
- Secure 1st class with distinction in Degree examination.
- A Cash Prize containing worth Rs. 10,000/- for the Topper of the institution in H.S. Final Examination has been instituted by his family members in the name of the founder principal i.e. Late Paran Gogoi from the year 2013.
- The college provides monetary assistance to the departments for arrangement of field trips for the benefit of the students.
- The college has instituted a students’ body known as "Kamargaon College students Union". The members are elected in Students General Election held usually in the month of September every year. This body looks after cultural and games & sports activities of the students.
- The college has set up a first-aid cell in association with Kamargaon P.H.C. and People & Science Society (an N.G.O.) Bokakhatto render First-Aid service to the students. In addition the college organizes health camps in the interest of the public off and on.
- The college has instituted ”Students’ Aid Fund” out of the contributions from the students and staff of the college. The objectives of the fund are:
- To render financial assistance to the poor and deserving students for payment of tution fees, examination fees, purchase of text books, stationery etc.
- To meet any needs of the students considered to be genuine by the students’ welfare committee of the college
- The college publishes its annual magazine “KGIAN”for the development of literary skill of the students
