K.R.D. College of Education (KRDCE), Chhaygaon was established in 1993. It is one of the premier institutions of "Teacher Education" in Assam as well as North-East India.

The college was established in 1993 with due permission from Gauhati University vide order No. 93/18/217 (42) dated 14.8.1993. It is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by National Council of teacher Education (NCTE).

The college situated in Chhaygaon on the bank of the river "KALAHI" about a furlong from National Highway No. 37 at a distance of 37 km. from Gauhati University and about 30 Km. from Gopinath Bordoloi Airport and 4km. from Chhaygaon Railway station. Chhaygaon is a place famous for rich cultural diversities and heritage to which; Chandika Devalaya and Chanda Sadagar’s Merghar.

The college has the latest required infrastructural facilities, with a well-equipped library, computer laboratory, conference hall etc. We are proud of a team of dedicated and committed faculty members, with necessary expertise to cater to the needs and challenges of the present day competitive world.

There exists a very warm and cordial relationship between the preceptor and the pupil. Apart from academic pursuits, great emphasis is laid on the Co-Curricular activities for the all round development of the students. Students are expected to abide by the rules and regulations prescribed by the college authority.

It is pertinent to mention in this connection that teaching is a noble profession . The teacher trainees should understand the significance of this noble profession and the roles they are going to play in future for the society and the nation.

Teacher or "Guru" is deeply revered by the students as well as by everybody in the society. The teacher is a helper who performs the roles of a friend, a philosopher and a guide. Teacher can play the roles of ideal parents for students with love , care and affection.

An ideal teacher always motivates, inspires and encourages the students and help them in including right positive attitudes, habits, manners and above all shape the character and personality of the students. A teacher is envisaged to behave in such a manner whereby the traits exemplified by him/her may be emulated by the students.

Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 45% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at K.R.D. College of Education (KRDCE), Chhaygaon in its various departments.
