Kuriakose Elias College, Kottayam is Roman Catholic Christian Minority College was established in 1964 by St. Joseph’s Monastery, Mannanam and managed by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI)-(R)

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam formerly affiliated with University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 23rd March 2013.

The college aims to facilitate the comprehensive and integral development of individuals who effectively function as instruments of social changes imbued with righteousness and courage of conviction dare to dream and strive to achieve.

It is a co-educational self-financed Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Kottayam played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college is named after their heavenly Patron, Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the Co-founder of the Congregation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), was their source of inspiration.

The college was affiliated with Kerala University and upgraded as a Degree College in 1967. Since 1983, the college has been under the jurisdiction of Mahatma Gandhi University.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Add-On course.

Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
