Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College, Kolkata was established in 1965.

To provides undergraduate courses in arts, science and commerce. The curriculum is designed by the Boards of Studies of Calcutta University.

The college is well equipped with all modern facilities. A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to the students of the college. The college got B+ rating from NAAC.

Calcutta University is the oldest of the modern universities in India. It was established in 1857 during the administration of Lord Canning, the Governor General of India. It is the only university in India which produced four Nobel laureates and has ranked consistently amongst the first five hundred universities in the world. It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent.

It has been declared as a "Five Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Times Education Supplement of London ranked the University of Calcutta as the 39th best university in the world, in the Arts & Humanities category in 2005.

The main campus of the university is located at College Street in Kolkata while and several other campuses are spread over the metro and its suburbs.

IN 1964, at the instance and initiative of Late Ranadeb Chaudhuri and with active co-operation of some eminent educationist and persons of public spirit, who formed the first Governing Body of this college, two commodious building on the main thoroughfare of Prince Anwar Shah Road were acquired to house the college. The buildings were remodelled to suit the purposes of a modern college with all possible amenities for students and teachers. The college started functioning from June 1965 as a co-educational institution. The aim of this college was to provide higher education to people from the lowerst economic strata of Society and this mission is still being pursued earnestly.

The college in its present form is proud to offer Honours courses in Bengali, English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Education, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electronics, Philosophy, Geography and Accounting & Finance in the under-graduate classes. We also offer Botany, Zoology, Sociology, Journalism & Mass Communication in the General Course of Undergraduate classes. The college also has D.E. study centre where we offer M.A. and M.Sc. classes in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Environmental Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Geography and M.Com-(Farm Management) affiliated to Vidyasagar University.
