Chanda Shikshan Prasarak Mandal's Janata College of Education, Chandrapur (Dist. Nagpur) was established on 27th July 1959 and managed by Chanda Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (CSPM) which was established in 1953.

This college is also known as Janata College of Education Place of Higher Learning and Research, Chandrapur.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress. The college is among the well-known B. Ed colleges in the state.

The college is affiliated to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in October 1972 under Act, 1956.

It is recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal to offer B.Ed., M.Ed & D.Ed. courses and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 2nd Cycle) on 25th October 2013.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the Trible society to make a future teacher. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

It is a co-educational, grant-in-aid private institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Nagpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also as a different name of institutions.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level.

But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. Now as per the needs, requirements, and demands of the students of this area the college has applied to the NCTE Bhopal for an additional section of D.Ed.

The college also offers two years Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course for those who have completed their intermediate with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized college/university. It is affiliated with Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training, Pune.

The college offers distance education in B.Ed. and M.Ed.  for the students and affiliated with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik.
