Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute, Jalpaiguri was established in 1950.

This college is affiliated to West Bengal State Council Of Technical Education, Kolkata.

Institute has traveled a long path since its inception in the year of 1950 and produced thousands of students spread all over the country.

Initially students had been admitted to one-year trade courses.

Jalpaiguri Polytechnic has been functioning as Government Polytechnic since 15th February 1978 when this polytechnic was taken under the full administrative control of the Government of West Bengal.
