Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), Jalpaiguri was established in 1961. It is a premier Engineering College in the State of West Bengal.
College is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
JGEC is the second oldest of all technical institutions beside the Bengal Engineering and Science University(formerly Bengal Engineering College,Shibpur) in the state of West Bengal.
At the time of its inception, JGEC was affiliated to the Calcutta University.
