Jai Hind College, Mumbai was established on 26th August 1948 by a small band of dedicated teachers of the D.J Sind College Karachi. Now, this college is Managed by the Sind Educationists' Association headed by the founder Principal, Prof T. M. Advani.

The college is associated with other two colleges are Basantsing Institute of Science and J.T.Lalvani College of Commerce which is managed under the banner of the Sind Educationists' Association headed by the founder Principal, Prof T. M. Advani.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.52 on a 4 Point  Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 19th January 2016

A tragic world event, the partition of India in 1947 had driven them from their homes, their friends, and their workplace. Jai Hind has gone on to become one of the premier educational institutions of Mumbai.

The aim of the college is to continue to expand while imparting useful and meaningful education so that the students will emerge as good citizens of India.

It is a co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Mumbai played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also has a different name of institutions.

This college has awarded as the best college and the college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The also college offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Arts, Science, & Commerce for the students. It also offers various kind of Certificate and Add-On Courses.

The college has been introduced with latest developments in the field of industry and their requirements, the courses in Biotechnology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting and Finance, Banking & Insurance and Management Studies have been introduced.

Jai Hind has signed an MOU with the Consortium of 17 Canadian Universities under the aegis of Ontario-Maharashtra-Goa program. This is primarily a student exchange program.

Jai Hind College has both a Junior College and Regular Degree College. This means that students enroll after 10th grade for the higher secondary examination. It is affiliated with the Maharashtra Board of Higher Education.

The College also offers bachelor's degrees in Science and Commerce, and Bachelor of Arts (three-year courses) and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. It is granted "Autonomous" status by the University of Mumbai in 2018/2019.
