Jahangirabad Institute of Engineering & Technology (JIT), Barabanki was established in 1979. The college is affiliated to Gautam Buddh Technical University; Lucknow.

It is an institute founded and promoted by Jahangirabad Educational Trust is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the establishment of Integrated Campus for offering multiple disciplines in Engineering & Management.

The institute is located in the historic fort of Jahangirabad, in Barabanki District, about 40 KM from Lucknow city. Barabanki of eastern UP has been out of the technology race and remains industrially backward. But not the fort has been transformed into an important center of Education, Learning and Research.

JIT has been founded to cherish the great values of transmission of knowledge, passionate pursuit of truth, maintenance of the highest standards of teaching and enhancing the intellectual, cultural, economic and social well-being of the minority community. JIT will provide facilities for rewarding educational experiences that develops the capabilities for independent throught, critical Judgement, problem solving, effective communication and ethical sensitivity, to equip graduates for leadership roles in business, industry, government setup and society.

Vision of JIT is to develop an educational institute of higher learning in Science and Technology along with training in leadership skills so the graduates can benefit themselves, their family and the community as well.
