K. L. E. Society’s Jagadguru Tontadarya (J.T.) College, Gadag was also known as K.L.E Society’s Arts and Commerce College, Gadag was established in 1985 with the efforts of the Akkana Balaga (Local Ladies Association) and the blessings of the pontiff Jagadguru Tontadarya Math, Gadag.

It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in 2003 under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.05 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

Till 2011-12 it was affiliated to Women’s University, Bijapur and was named as K. L. E. Society Women’s Arts and Commerce College. It was mainly due to the efforts made by His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Siddaling Maha Swamiji of Jagadguru Tontadarya Samsthana Math Dambal-Gadag, office bearers and members of AkkanaBalaga Gadag, and various stake holders the college for Women the only one of the kind in Gadag was established.

Presently the college is affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad and is proud enough to be under the banner of K.L.E. Society, Belgaum, which is running 240 plus institutions throughout India and abroad.

The college imparts education in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management courses for undergraduate students leading to the award of B.A., B.Sc., B.com, BCA, & BBA under Karnatak University, Dharwad.
