Iqbal College, Peringamala (Dist. Thiruvananthapuram) is a Muslim Minority College was established in 1964 and managed by Iqbal College Trust (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram in 1987. and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.73 on a 4 Point  Scale in 1st Cycle) on 4th September 2010.

The aim of the college is to educating the people and bringing them out from the darkness of ignorance to the marvelous light of knowledge.

It is a co-educational private Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Thiruvananthapuram played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college was started as a junior college in the Peringamala village with Sri. C.H. Mohammed Koya, the former Chief Minister of Kerala, as its Patron. Later, It was elevated to a first-grade college.

The college started its first P.G. course in 1995. In 2010, the Kerala University approved the college as a Research center in the field of Commerce.

The college is named after the great poet and philosopher, Dr. Sir Allama Mohamed Iqbal 'the poet of the East'. Iqbal College was recently declared first totally IT literate college under the University. 

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses and offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
