International Council for Management Studies (ICMS), Chennai was established in 1950.

This institute is affiliated to AICTE.

It is a distance education management studies. In 1963, Indian institute of management, Ahmadabad was set up in collaboration with the Harward business school.

The 1950s and 1960s witnessed the growth of commerce education and 1970 and 1980s witnessed the growth of management education in India.
