Institute of Business Management & Research, Kolkata was established in the year 1976 under the guidance of late Dr. S.N.Sen, the then Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University.

The Institute, later on, has been approved by the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Govt. of India and has been affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).

Institute of Business Management & Research (Reputedly Known as 'IBMR-Kolkata') is a premier and one of the oldest Management Institute in the eastern region. It was established in 1976 by a group of reputed academicians & corporate under the guidance and leadership of Late Dr. S.N.Sen, the then Vice- Chancellor of Calcutta University and Justice Ashoke Sen, Calcutta High Court, Dr. Aurobinda Bose, Ex VC Jadavpur University, Prof. Aloke Ghosh, Ex HOD Economics, Calcutta University, Prof. A. C. Banerjee, Ex HOD Economics Rahindra Bharati University, to cater to the need of management education and continuing the commitment since inception.

The campus offers an ideal place for students to the self absorbing texture of the institute where world class systems and procedures have been integrated to enable thought and ideas and realization of the highest calibre. Students are constantly encouraged during their courses to exert themselves in all spheres of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

IBMR is now a premier Management learning Centre offering AICTE Approved MBA, BBA(H) and BCA(H) courses, affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as WBUT and Master In Hospital Administration (MHA) under The West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

IBMR is now functioning from two campuses with well equipped modern teaching aids in an academic ambience .The Institute has good record of placement and rapport with leading corporate units. Its teaching and training programmes are guided by excellent team of faculties with exposure to external business world.
