Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE) - Osmania University, Hyderabad, came into existence and started functioning from 31st August 1928.

At present, the institute offer courses under the university campus. It is recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru.

The main aim of the institute is to provide the quality of higher education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the department empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

In 1947, the college was shifted to the university campus and was renamed as University College of Education. Later, under the centrally sponsored scheme, to strengthen and reorganize teacher education, a number of teacher education institutions were upgraded to CTE, and a few into IASE centers of excellence, research and innovations.

Accordingly the University College of Education - Osmania University was upgraded to the status of IASE during the year 1996-97. As per the norms & conditions of MHRD, Govt. of India, this department was renamed as Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE).

At present, the institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course under Credit Based Choice System (CBCS) for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The institute offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level.

But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Apart from these courses, the institute also offers Doctor of Philosophy in Education, & additional add-on courses.

The admission for these courses is strictly based on the norms stipulated by National Council for Teacher Education & Osmania University, Hyderabad.
