Indira Gandhi Government Post Graduate College, Tohana was popularly known as I.G. Govt. P.G. College, Tohana and previously known as National College Tohana was established on 1st August 1970 by charismatic leader Sardar Harpal Singh.
It is one of the premier postgraduate college established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
This college was taken over by Govt. Haryana on 14th January 1980 which is only affiliated & recognized degree college within the periphery of 30km.
The college is at present affiliated with Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa formerly affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B++" Grade - (in 2nd Cycle) on 5th November 2016.
The college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa. It also offers some self-financing courses & management courses.
