Hindu Kanya College Kapurthala was established in June 1969 and managed by governing body of Hindu Kanya College (HKC) Managment

The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.03 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 28th March 2017.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The aim of the college was to adopt a holistic approach while imparting education to the young students and strives to create a caring, safe and supportive environment through a philosophy based on mutual respect and positive attitude.

It was a woman self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Kapurthala played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Mohali.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Management, Science, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts, Management, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Add-On Certificate courses.
