Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalya, Jind was established in 1970.
It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is at present affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (in 1st Cycle) on 1st October 2002.
Keeping In view, the rising demand for female education and the fulfillment of a long cherished desire of residents of district Jind, The college was founded in 1970 with the efforts of reputed people of Jind.
Pandit Poornand Ji, Sh. Hari Madho Singla, Master Badri Prasad and other dignitaries of Jind city took great pains in the inception of this institution.
It was first set up in Arya Samaj Mandir in 1970 with an enrollment of 50 students. Then in March 1971, the college was shifted to Aggarwal Panchayati Bhavan and was affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
In June 1984 the college moved from Panchayati Bhavan to a more spacious and artistically designed building with lush green lawns and variety of blooming flowers and a vast playground.
The college has completed 46 years of academic excellence and is fast emerging as an ideal institution with an enrollment of 1800 students.
There was only Arts faculty in the beginning but commerce faculty was added in 1989. The college commits itself to serve the economically weak, socially underprivileged, rural and needy students, efficient, well qualified and devoted lecturers and cordial student – teacher relationship is the main attractions of our institution.
Presently, the college also offers three years various courses in Science stream and also offers Add-on courses.

- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
- Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
- The college has a large playground with will-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology.
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
