About Hindu College Sonepat
Hindu College Sonepat, Sonipat was established in 1956 and in 1958 it carved out a niche for itself in the former composite Punjab State in the form of a credible institution when its student Ramdhan Singh topped the merit list of Intermediate examination (F.A) conducted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh to which this college stood affiliated at that time.
The city of Sonepat is located at a distance of 35 Kms. from the capital of the country. The college building is situated in the heart of the city and is very close to the Railway Station.
It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is at present affiliated with Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B).
Ever Since the college has maintained the high tradition. Its record of examination results has remained unbeaten by any other institution in Haryana in terms of pass percentage.
It is the only college in this region that has provision for teaching post-graduate classes in all the three streams, viz., Arts, Commerce and Science.
Around seventy well-qualified, scholarly teachers of whom 22 have Ph.D./ D. Litt. and 19 M. Phil. degrees provide instruction to 1748 students. Education in Humanities. Commerce, Science, Electronics, Computer and business Administration is imparted.
The achievements of college have been impassive from the very beginning when the college was affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. It has given a number of reputed and dedicated doctors, engineers, administrators, lawyers and public servants to society.
The college is managed by The Sonepat Hindu Educational and Charitable Society which runs 14 other educational, technical, management and engineering institutions were about 20000 students are getting an education.
The college also has a study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
