The institute is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and approved by All India council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

Himalayan Institute of Engineering & Technology is promoted and fully funded by the Maa Saraswati Educational Trust keeping in mind the needs of students of Himachal Pradesh. The B. Tech, degree courses are approved by AICTE & affiliated to H.P. Technical University, Hamirpur. Himalayan Institute of Engg. & Technology was started so that students of 10+2 Non Medical stream can avail the opportunity to enter into the Engineering profession. The curriculum has been revised paying greater emphasis on practical training and technology. It is hoped that a large number of our students will find their rightful places in public & private sectors around the country as well as abroad.

The institute is located in the most picturesque and serene environment of Himachal Pradesh at Kala Amb on Yamuna Nagar-Nahan State Highway No. 1 in sprawling campus having a well-established library, a well-equipped computer lab, well ventilated class rooms, canteen, lecture halls, seminar hall, separate boys & girls hostel, indoor-outdoor games facility, bus transportation facility etc. The institute uses LCD Projectors for imparting education to the students. The students are exposed to guest lectures by experts of various fields and have regular interaction with industry through industrial visits etc. The institute has recruited well educated, dedicated and hardworking faculty which enrich the students with knowledge in their specific fields. Extracurricular activities like cultural functions, sports activities are also held in the Institution.
