Henry Baker College Melukavu (Dist. Kottayam) is a Christian Minority College was established in 1981 and managed by Henry Baker College Educational Society (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam formerly affiliated with University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The aim of the college is to educating the people and bringing them out from the darkness of ignorance to the marvelous light of knowledge.

It is a co-educational private Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Kottayam played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college was named after missionary Henry Baker Jr. Owned by the Diocese of East Kerala of the Church of South India.

The college was founded in 1981 by the C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese providing two-year Pre-Degree course of Kerala University; upgraded with UG Programme in 1991 and became a first-grade college in 1999.

The college offers postgraduate courses (in Commerce and History) and undergraduate courses (in Commerce, Physics, English, and History).

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses and offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
