Guru Nanak College of Education for Women Kapurthala was established in July 1966 in the name of Great Guru Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and managed by Montgomery Guru Nanak (M.G.N) Educational Trust, Jalandhar which was established in 1922.

The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in February 1976 under Act, 1956. 

It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur & Govt. of Punjab to offer B.Ed. course.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.39 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) in 2006.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is a woman private Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Kapurthala played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The college also received the many achievements awards in the field of Teacher Training under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In future with confidence that the college will help the state to have a qualitative primary teacher as well serve in future.

The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
