Govt. Polytechnic Hisar was established in 1992 with the aim of inculcating technical skill in the youth, thus enabling them for suitable employment with the capacity to accept global challenges.

The institute was formerly Government Institute of Engineering & Technology approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Government of Haryana and affiliated to HSBTE, Panchkula.
