Govt. P.G. College, Damoh was popularly known as Gyanchand Shrivastava P.G. College, Damoh was established in 1952 by Shri Gyan Chandra Shrivastava Ji and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade ( in 1st Cycle) in 2007.

The sole aim of reaching education to the rural and industrial masses and situated on the outskirts of the Damoh, the college now can boost by coming a long way in the path of development of education.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Damoh played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce with various specializations Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
