Govt. J. Yaganandam Chhattisgarh College, Raipur (Government Chhatisgarh Autonomous P.G. College, Raipur) was established in 1938. It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide a platform in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the path of progress.

The college is situated in the heart of Raipur city in a huge area of 3.4987 acres with a built-up area of 60800 sq.ft. comprising of 26 classrooms, 8 laboratories, Central Library, Computer Center etc.

The college is affiliated to Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 in the year 1987. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Since its inception, the college started as a private and undergraduate college in the urban area with the initiative of Late Shri J.Yoganandam with a mission to promote higher education in this area.

The college aims for academic excellence through hard work and sincerity. College started with ten students in the year 1938 and today has a strength of 1929 students. It was also the center of the independence movement in the year 1942.

It is one of the oldest higher educational institutions in the erstwhile state of Madhya Pradesh and now in the newly formed state of Chhattisgarh, catering to the needs of aspirants. Postgraduate courses were introduced from the year 1950.

The college became a Government College in the year 1982 and got the autonomous state in the year 1996. It is a Govt. funded college. College is offering postgraduate courses in the faculty of arts, commerce, science, journalism, and law.
