About Govt. Girls Degree College Shajapur
Govt. Girls Degree College Shajapur was popularly known as Govt. Arts and Commerce College, Shajapur was established on 29th September 1987 which was situated in a historical fort near the bank of river Chillar and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Vikram University, Ujjain and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 7th April 1992 under Act, 1956.
The aim of the college was the acquisition, preservation, and transmission of knowledge to promote national and rational outlook among the girls of the district.
It is a woman government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Shajapur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Vikram University, Ujjain.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Commerce streams and Two years postgraduate course in Commerce stream with various specializations under Vikram University, Ujjain.
University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Vikram University, Ujjain and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.

- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 1st August 2011 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
- The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
- The college consists of Women Empowerment Cell for aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women's empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programs, other welfare activities and to analyze underlying causes through research to women discrimination and to generate awareness
