Govt. Degree College, Sausar (Dist. Chhindwara) was established on 2nd October 1984 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

Later the college that it was transferred in 1994 to its own magnificent, splendid and huge new building which stands beside Nagpur- Chhindwara.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar  & Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12 (B) on 20th October 1993 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.01 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 9th June 2017.

The college aims to impart such knowledge as may be necessary for the all-round development of the character of students thereby making them capable of being employed and on par with the highly competitive job market.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Chhindwara played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Science streams and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts stream with various specializations under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

The college also provides equal opportunity for basic science, arts, and job-oriented education to all sections of society especially to women and students belonging to remote areas.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
