About Govt. Degree College, Patharia
Govt. Degree College, Patharia (Dist. Damoh) was popularly known as Madhav Rao Sapre Government College, Patharia named after Late Shri Madhav Rao Sapre, a renowned journalist of Madhya Pradesh established in 1989 managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).
It will not be out of context to mention here that a Sangrahalaya of Journalism in Bhopal has been named after this legend of Patharia. The college was shifted to the new campus in 2006.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) under Act, 1956.
The college aims were to improve academic as well as extracurricular abilities of students who mostly come from the semi-urban area.
It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Damoh played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Science streams with various specializations and two years of a postgraduate course in Arts and Science with various specializations under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.

- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
