Govt. Degree College, Jatara (Dist. Tikamgarh) was established in 1984 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
The aim of the college is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in this era of information and teaching and as well as to provide an ideal environment to develop a mental, Physical, social and spiritual level of students.
It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Tikamgarh played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce stream with various specializations under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.

- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
