Govt. Degree College, Bijawar (Dist. Chhtarapur) was established in 1987 as an undergraduate level higher education institute but came into existence in 1991 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

The sole aim of reaching education to the rural and industrial masses and situated on the outskirts of the Chhtarapur and has been serving the cause of education right from the times of the erstwhile princely state of Bijawar.

Bijawar college is one of the Bundhel Khand's regions education institute which educates a large number of tribal and poorest students in its surrounding area.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Chhtarapur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

Later the college was started P. G. classes in subject Pol. Science, Hindi literature, and Economics by the contribution of Jan Bhagidari Samiti.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P.

and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
