Govt. Degree College Amarwara (Dist. Chhindwara) was established on 22nd September 1984 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur in July 2015 onwards but formerly affiliated to Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 24th April 1998 & 12 (B) on 18th July 2002 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "C++" Grade ( in 1st Cycle) on 15th March 2007.

The aim of the college was to provide quality education to develop all round  personality and to impart vocational skill among students to enable them to play a active and meaningful role in the society .i.e. to provide holistic development to the society through education also to make students self-confident as they prove themselves in every field and aspects of life.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Chhindwara played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams and two years of postgraduate course in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
