Govt. College, Rahatgarh (Dist. Sagar) was popularly known as Excellence Higher Secondary school, Rahatgarh was established in 1989 and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS). It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

Government College, Rahatgarh (Sagar) was formerly known as gdc, rahatgarh establisjed on 17/11/1989 and running in the building of higher secondary excellence school, rahatgarh, by the M.P. Higher Education Department. The college is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar with the single course of B.A.., Commerce Stream (B.Com) was started 2008 under self finance. In year 2011 college was shifted in new building in Ward No. 1, Block Colony with mountainous campus area, the affiliation of government college rahatgarh, sagar was shifted towards Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University, Chhatarpur (mcbu) in 2015. Science Steam (B.Sc. Both CBZ & PCM) courses are also running from 2018. Currently Government College Rahatgarh in recognize with 2(f) under University Grant Commission (UGC).

Governtment College, Rahatgarh is premier co-education institute of M.P. Higher Education whic is located in Western Part of Rahatgarh Nagar Panchayat and situated at the back of beena river, College Campus is surrounded by beena plateu of Vidhya Range with moist deciduous forest.

The Goal of Government College, Rahatgarh to provide the higher education for all candidate, to be a milestone in the part of progress, GDC Rahatgarh received the number of achievement, awards in the field of education, sports and other extra activities and curriculum. In present education and learning is activated in GDC by training programs under swami vivekanand career margdarshan yojna where the students are trained and develop various vocational skills.

 The college aims were to improve academic as well as extracurricular abilities of students who mostly come from the semi-urban area.

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Sagar played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations and two years of a postgraduate course in Arts with various specializations under Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
