Govt. College, Amarpatan (Dist. Satna) was established on 1st August 1966 which was located in Tendupatta town hall and founded by Pandit Urmila Prasad Shukl. Later it came under the management of Government of Madhya Pradesh on 10th October 1978.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) under Act, 1956.
The aim of the college was not only to impart bookish knowledge but all round development of students in all walks of life.
The king Maharaj Amar Singh had defeated the Lodi's empire and got freedom in 1678. The city which was formerly known as Sonam now it is Amarpatanm and later it was renamed as Amarpatan.
It was a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Satna played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, and Science with various specializations under Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa.
Admission to various courses is granted through merit-cum-reservation policy of the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the cut off marks vary for different courses.
