Govindpur College, Gobindpur (Dist. Cuttack) was established on 5th January 1990 and managed by the Governing Body with permission & recognition from the Government. It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is affiliated with the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in 2005 & 12(B) in 2011 under Act, 1956.

The aim of the college is to impart proper knowledge to the educated youth in the field of arts and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose, and spirit of Education.

It is co-educational government Institute, providing a regular course which is located in a semi-urban part of a Cuttack played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Due to the sincere and selfless effort of the Governing Body, +3 Science and +3 Commerce were opened with due permission & recognition from the Government of Odisha.

The college received permanent recognition was granted by the Government in 2004 and opened Honours subjects in Arts, Science, and Commerce.

This college has conferred as the status as "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" and the best college by the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Also numbers of an award in publication, offering scholarship also awarded by the different societies.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. It also offers professional courses for the students.
