Government Teachers Training College (GTTC), Malda was established in 1968.

Govt. Teachers` Training College, Malda offers two years` B. Ed. course which is recognised by N.C.T.E. and U.G.C. Under Section 2(f) and 12B and the college is affiliated to the University of Gour Banga, West Bengal. Govt. Teachers’ Training College, Malda organizes various co-scholastic activities for the students as exhibition, cultural programmes, games and sports, educational tour, campus beautification and so on. It also arranges teaching internship in different schools for hand-on experiences of the students. Govt. Teachers’ Training College, Malda supports and participates in various social activities as extension programmes.

Government Teachers’ Training College, Malda began its journey on October 1, 1964 from the newly built Malda College Girls Hostel which was lying vacant from awhile. Under the able stewardship of Prof. Dibakar Das Mahanta, Officer in- Charge, the College shifted to the present premises in 1968.It is the second oldest teachers’ training college under North Bengal University to which it was affiliated till 2008 and the only Government owned teachers’ training college in North Bengal. At present the college runs a B.Ed Course affiliated to the University of Gour Banga.. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2014. Its IGNOU centre runs B.Ed, M.Ed and MA in Education courses from 2007 along with a number of other courses.

It is a government-sponsored college, which provides one-year B Ed course. The college applies all the modern method of teaching, to ensure that its students are groomed to become skillful teachers.

The College has qualified and expert lecturers, to provide guidance on different aspects of the course. The aim of the college is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose and spirit of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education.

The College is involved to give the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information technology for School Purpose.
