Government Shyam Sundar Agrawal College, Sihora (Dist. Katni) was established on 1st July 1956 but came into existence in 1957 and founded by Late Sri Shyam Sunder Agrawal Ji and managed by Jan Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 1st January 1970 & 12(B) on 1st January 1983 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B++" Grade (CGPA Score 2.88 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 28th March 2017.

The aim of the college was to create an environment of awareness, cultivate and build confidence with a deep sense of social responsibility among the students

It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Katni played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Due to good infrastructure and facilities provided by the college, the college was taken over by Higher Education Department of M.P. in 1973.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams and two years postgraduate courses in Arts and Science streams with various specializations under Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P.

and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
