Government Polytechnic for Women, Chandigarh was one of the oldest institutions in the entire North India established in November 1962 to encourage women to take up technical and professional training.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi & Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi.
The aim of the college was to provide education to the woman i.e state subjects as this region was educationally impoverished.
It is a woman government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Chandigarh played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports, training, and curricular activities.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Architectural Assistantship, Library & Information Science, Interior Design & Decoration, Diploma in Pharmacy, Modern Office Practice. Students can also opt for higher education such as B. Pharm., M. Pharm. & Ph.D.
