Government Degree College, Narsipatnam was established in 1984.

The college was established through a Government Order vide G.O.Ms.No. 306 Edn.

It is managed by government of Andhra Pradesh.

The College is admitted into the U.G.C under 2F / 12B in 1993, which enables the institution to get financial assistance.

College is accredited at B+ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC located at Bangalore, a UGC sponsored agency.

The College Development Committee with Sri. Ch.Ayyanna Patrudu, the then Former Minister for Technical Education (Now Minister for Forests) as its Coordinator took active role and mobilized a sizeable contribution of Rs. 7.50 Lakhs from the Public and secured an equal matching grant of Rs. 7.50 Lakhs from the Govt. of A.P.under Grameena Kranthi Patham scheme for construction work. The untiring efforts of Sri N.Jaya Prakash Narayana, Sri N.Ramesh Kumar and Sri K.Sambasiva Rao, I.A.S Officers who held Sub Collector positions for Narsipatnam Division along with several other philanthropists who contributed peoples dream come true, go a long way in the annals of our College history.
