Government College Nedumangad (Dist. Thiruvananthapuram) was established on 26th August 1981 and managed under the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 25th June 1997 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.28 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 5th May 2014.

The aim of the college is inculcating in students social consciousness and help them to take up social works also to offer proper counseling to those who suffer from emotional stress and other problems.

It is a co-educational government Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Thiruvananthapuram played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The College was inaugurated by the then chief minister of Kerala Sri E. K. Nayanar on the 16th September 1981.The college started functioning in the new site from the 3rd term of 1989-90 and the buildings were formally inaugurated by the chief minister of Kerala on 14th February 1990.

In 1991-92, after the prolonged request from PTA, students & staff, University-sanctioned B.Com course with 50 students to the college.

The high success in conducting B.Com classes, University had no hesitation to sanction other degree classes. During 1991-92 a batch of B.A. History and in the next year a batch of B.A. Economics has been sanctioned.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams and offers two years of postgraduate courses in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
