About Government College Hoshiarpur
Government College Hoshiarpur was established as an intermediate college in 1927 and founded by Shri Bihari Lal Bhatia. Later it was upgraded to a Degree college in 1943.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B+" Grade (CGPA Score 2.19 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 28th February 2005.
The main aim of the college is to inculcate academic and intellectual skills and to help students to evolve as good citizens with integrated personalities by tapping their innate potential.
It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Hoshiarpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Computer Application streams and postgraduate courses in Arts and Science with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma, Add-On Certificate courses as well.
