Government College for Women, Kolar was also known as Government Women`s College Kolar in 1984.

It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bangalore of University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.08 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) in 15th January 2013.

The institution is located at Kolar, Opp. To Kolaramma Temple.  Kolar is a small town located 60 km's away from Banglore. Since the college is affiliated to Bangalore University, the curriculum revision and other related evaluative procedures were followed as per the directions of the Bangalore University.  Bangalore is number one City in the World in I.T.

The college offers three years undergraduate & two years post graduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Mangement streams under Bangalore of University, Bengaluru.
