About Government College, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar
Government College, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar was established on 1st January 1984.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 9th April 1990 under Act, 1956.
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B++" Grade (in 1st Cycle) in 2004.
The aim of the college was low fee structure, supporting deprived and backward sections of the society.
It is a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Punjabi University, Patiala.
The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Punjabi University, Patiala.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management streams and postgraduate courses in Arts and Science with various specializations under Punjabi University, Patiala. It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Add-On Certificate courses as well.

- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college also has a hostel with providing all the facilities, security and good atmosphere, best suited for studies of the boys & girls coming from far-off places
- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 15th July 2002 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
- Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
- The Transportation facility is available for students
- The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
