Gokhale Education Society’s  H.P.T. Arts & R.Y.K. Science College, Nashik was established in June 1924 and managed by Gokhale Education Society's which was established on 19th February 1918.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune formerly affiliated with the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.04 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 8th January 2011.

Though HPT College started primarily as an Arts College, a large number of courses in both Arts and Science were added to cater to the educational needs of the students. Later the Science Stream was added in 1948 and the College was renamed as HPT Arts & RYK Science College in 1974.

The aim of the college is inculcating gender equality in the rural area, social awareness, scientific temperament, cleanliness, awareness about environmental issues.

Gokhale Education Society’s  H.P.T. Arts & R.Y.K. Science College is one of the leading institutions imparting higher education in the fields of Arts, Science, catering to the diverse needs of the present youth.

It fulfills its academic mission and goals through 95 institutions spread in Nashik, Ojhar, Nashik Road, Sinnar, Sangamner, Jawahar, Bordi, Kosbad, Talasari, Borivali, Parel, Gurgaon & Shrivardhan.

It is co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in a rural and urban part of Nashik played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

This college has awarded as the best college and the college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

Junior College unit HPT/RYK college started functioning from 1976 with 4 divisions of Arts and 6 divisions of Science stream. At present, there are 6 divisions of Arts (3 for Std.XI and 3 for Std.XII) and 10 divisions of Science (5 for Std.XI & 5 for Std.XII) and 8 divisions for M.C.V.C (4 for Std.XI & 4 for Std.XII).

College also offers Bifocal courses like Computer Science, Electronics, I.T, Electrical Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, and in M.C.V.C stream also offers courses like Maintenance & Repairs of Electrical Domestic Appliances, Electronics Technology, Medical Lab Technology and Travel and Tourism.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, & Science streams with optional specializations under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

Apart from these courses, the college also has a Contact Centre of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik to offer UG, Diploma, & Add-On Certificate Courses.
